While we tout these lights as "cheap lights", we are only referring to the price, not the quality.
Why are metal halide lights ideal for this use? Metal halide type lights are ideal for horse riding arenas, parking lot lighting, and general outdoor security lighting because of the "bang for your buck" and low maintenance. If you were to use incandescent light bulbs, you would need approximately 31 bulbs to equal the same amount of lumens that comes from just one of our 400 watt metal halide parking lot flood light fixtures. So not only do you get alot of light from just one light, but your maintenance costs and energy costs will both be significantly less than otherwise.
What voltage can I wire these parking lot flood lights for?
These 400 watt metal halide parking lot flood lights, often used in horse riding arenas, are equipped with mult-tap ballasts that are good for 120/208/240/277 volts. The higher the voltage you wire them for, the lower the amperage draw.
Are these 400 watt metal halide horse riding arena lights energy efficient?
Yes. These lights will each use approximately 400 watts of light. To get this same amount of light, you would need approximately 3100 watts of incandescent light. So there is your energy savings.
What color of light do these give?
These 400 watt pulse start metal halide lights give off a white color of light. If you are looking for the yellow/orange color of light, check out our high pressure sodium line of flood lights. We have found that most equestrian atmospheres prefer metal halide type lighting.
How many lights do I need?
Everyone's definition of "good" lighting varies. However, we have found that using 1 light for every 2-4 times the mounting height is usually adequate.
Do these lights have a warranty?
Of course. While we do not anticipate any problems with these 400 watt pulse start metal halide flood lights, we do warranty all parts for 1 full year.
